Mark your calendar and plan to attend the 141st Glencoe Fall Fair, taking place on September 22-24, a community tradition and homecoming for many friends and family.   I am so excited to be a part of the 2017 planning committee as we have a stellar line up for the entire weekend.

Celebrating Canada’s 150th” is the official theme for the fair, a wonderful opportunity to showcase our amazing country and a perfect theme to incorporate into the plans for the weekend.

When you receive your fair book please take a few minutes and look through all the hard work that our volunteers have put together for the upcoming fair. Some of the classes have been modified; some classes have even been added to encourage more exhibitors. I challenge everyone to enter at least one class.     A big thank you to Stephanie McCallum who has worked countless hours to get the Glencoe Fair prizebook online, meaning you can now input l your entries online ahead of time.   This is a great tool to streamline additional work when it comes to processing entries, results and prize money, please use this for 2017.

Beyond the classes take a close look at the weekend schedule, it looks fantastic!   The Friday night demolition derby under the lights is back!! If that’s not your style, come into the Variety Show and enjoy “Screeched Inn;” their upbeat, high energy folk-based music, your traditional down home, east coast kitchen party; along with local talents and Ambassador introductions.     Other new features include the Saturday night band, 8 Second Ride and Little Ray’s Reptiles, a Pet Show & Classic Championship Wrestling on Sunday afternoon.   Glencoe Fair would like to welcome Magical Midways, a delightful addition to the weekend.

Annual events will be still taking place again this year are the: fastball tournament on Friday night, Saturday with the parade, 4-H & Livestock Shows, KidsZone and fair dance; then Sunday the interdenominational church service.

Keep in touch with us on the Glencoe Fair website, and on our Facebook page, as we are always posting new announcements, events and pictures throughout the entire year.

As the annual fair is our largest event of the year, the members of the Glencoe Agricultural Society need to be recognized and commended for their year around commitment and contribution to the community above and beyond the fair.   The countless hours that have gone into such events as the: Youth Dances, Chili Cook Off, Men’s Night, Girl’s Night Out, Mom to Mom’s Sale, Paint Night, Truck & Tractor Pull, Ugly Sweater Dance ... just name a few, identifies the passion these volunteers have for their community. Thank you to the entire fairboard membership for your support.   Thank you once again for all that you do to support the Glencoe Agricultural Society. We work hard to offer facilities and unique events for the community to enjoy throughout the year and we sincerely couldn’t do it without your support as a partner, exhibitor, volunteer or attendee, thank you !

See you at the fair !
