Info about the program:

What is it? The Glencoe Fair Ambassador program is chance for young adults between the ages of 18*- 24 to participate in a community event that allows them to gain hard and soft skills to help prepare them for their future. Those skills include, but are not limited to: Public speaking, networking, introducing themselves, interviewing, and learning to interact as a professional.

*must be 18 years of age by the following August of the year they participate.

How does the program work? The Glencoe Fair Ambassador Program is implementing a new element this year – a bursary. The process from previous years is still the same. The ambassador committee will be hosting an information night mid-July/early- August. Anyone interested in participating is invited to attend and learn more about the program. Mid-August a photo day will be held and this will be considered the deadline to confirm participation. By submitting an autobiography on the evening on the photo day, you are agreeing to participate in the program. You will also receive a package outlining program details such as important dates, times and places to be. After the photo day and reviewing the package, you will be asked to write a one to two minute speech on a specified topic that will be outlined in the package. As a participant you will say this short speech at the interview day one week prior to Glencoe Fair in front of the judges and your fellow participants. The interview day will also consist of a meal. Following the interview and speeches, the next aspect will take place at the Variety Show on Friday night – the impromptu questions, which will then lead to the announcement of the new Glencoe Fair Ambassador.
